The most important step in web development that AV companies never take
You have a great website. It looks good, works well, but doesn't seem to attract new business. What went wrong?
"Nothing," says Tim Grant, owner and president of Lunavista Communications in Chicago. You just need to take one more step: you need to market your website to the search engines.
According to Grant, if you optimize for Google, Yahoo and MSN, you can gain a significant advantage over competitors who do not. There are few tricks to the process. What you really need is:
- A good list of keywords that prospects are likely to use to find you
- Pages clearly explaining your offerings, each built to support no more than 2 - 3 closely related keywords
- Inclusion of target keywords in critical sections of content and code
- Help with offsite factors, including the links that point to your site
Read a detailed look at the process in "Search Engine Optimization" from Sound & Video Contractor.
